Consumer price index (CPI)
The inflation index published monthly by the Federal Statistical Office. In a rent adjustment, 40 % of its change since the rent was last set may be passed on — the equity share.
The index exists on several bases (December 2020 = 100, December 2015 = 100…); a value only means something with its base, which the lease or the last official form names. The formula: (current index − starting index) ÷ starting index × 100 × 40 %.
